From the Commander
The subject of volunteering at AMVETS came up at our “meeting” on the deck. Trust me, this is a regular topic. The Executives and Trustees at Post 1 are aware of the commitments you have to your family, your job, your personal time. If you don’t have the time, that’s okay. If you do have some time, there are always challenges and commitments that we have where we could use some help. We could use a Chaplain, or a ticket seller for the bottle raffle on Friday night, or help with the Sunday breakfast. If we had another member of the color guard, we could carry the POW/MIA flag to Cheney Stadium. It is not just the picnics, or Halloween parties, or Christmas parties, or Toys for Tots that need help (and they do)--all of the programs and events need support. Even the printing of this newsletter is done by volunteers. The volunteers at this Post are the reason we won “Post of the Year.” So, if you have the time, and a bit of energy, consider volunteering for a day, or a lifetime.
